MEETING ANNOUNCEMENT – March 4, 2010
Detecting Deception 2 and Interviewing Techniques
Our next meeting will be at the usual location, Bellevue City Hall, on Thursday, March 4, 2010, from 7 to 9 pm. Due to the large number of persons who want to attend this presentation we had to move to a larger room. It will be in Room 1E-108, not our usual space, 1E-120. You may wish to come early as OMAC has graciously offered to sponsor a light dinner beginning at 6:30 pm. If you are coming for dinner please RSVP by the end of Monday, March 1 st, so I can tell OMAC how many to expect. If you're not coming for dinner, no need to reply.
A common problem faced by examiners is determining whether the history provided by a claimant or plaintiff regarding causation, symptoms, need for treatment, disability, and other issues is true, false, or somewhere in between. FBI Special Agent Ray Lauer has a wealth of experience in interviewing and detecting deception, having been in law enforcement for 30 years, the last 22 years with the FBI, a polygrapher for the past 16 years, and a frequent instructor on this topic for various law enforcement agencies.
In March 2008 Special Agent Lauer came and spoke to WAIME on Verbal and Nonverbal Indications of Deception, How to Tell When Someone's Lying. His presentation was one of the best attended and probably the most popular we've ever had. Mr. Lauer has graciously agreed to take time away from his very busy schedule to give us an encore presentation: Detecting Deception 2 and Interviewing Techniques. I respectfully suggest this is one talk you don't want to miss.
Thanks again to Irene Suver from Panel of Consultants for sponsoring our February 4 th meeting.
Please save these upcoming meeting dates for the first half of 2010: April 1, and May 6. Second half meeting dates are: September 9, October 7, November 11, and December 2, 2010. Hope to see you on March 4 th.

Charles N. Brooks MD, President
